You told me Jottoo had too many places to look and too many steps before a recording started. This update fixes that. The app now opens on what's due, recording starts in one tap, and every way to capture a meeting sits behind a single button.
Where it's available: the new layout is live on the web at workspace.jottoo.com, and the same Today, Notes and Tasks screens are in the latest iPhone, iPad and Android apps. Update the app from the App Store or Google Play to get it.
What you told me
The feedback from early users was consistent:
- "Where do I start?" The old home screen mixed a workspace, a calendar, recordings and folders, and none of them said what to do next.
- "I just want to hit record." Starting a recording meant finding the right card first.
- "My tasks are scattered." Tasks lived in a side panel, a calendar and inside each note.
So the goal of this update was simple: fewer places, fewer steps, and the next thing you need always in front of you.
Start with Today
Jottoo now opens on Today. At the top is your next deadline, or the task that's already overdue, with Mark done, Reschedule and Open note right there. Below it, Coming up lists the next few tasks with their due dates, and on the side you can see your folders and your most recent notes.
If you only have a minute between meetings, Today tells you what matters without opening anything else.
Today: your next deadline, what's coming up, folders and recent notes, with Record and New note on every screen.
Record in one tap
Every main screen now has the same two buttons in the top corner: Record and New note.
Press Record and it starts straight away. A recording card shows the timer, a live waveform, Pause and Stop and save. While you listen, you can type your own notes into the same card, add a tag, and see which folder the recording will be saved to. Your typed notes are merged with the audio into one Smart Note, with the tasks pulled out for you.
One button for new notes
New note opens one simple sheet with three choices:
- Record now. Capture a meeting live and type alongside.
- Upload audio. Drop in a Zoom, Teams or voice memo file.
- Type a note. Jot it down now and add audio later.
Before you start, pick the folder it should be saved to. No more filing notes after the fact.
Notes and tasks, side by side
The menu is now just Today, Notes, Tasks and Recordings, matching the Today, Notes and Tasks you already know from the Android app.
- Notes lists every note by day, with quick filters for voice notes, typed notes and notes that still have open tasks. Choose a note and it opens alongside the list.
- Recordings keeps every audio file you've recorded or uploaded, with its transcript.
- Tasks is one list, grouped into Overdue, Upcoming and No date. Filter by folder, switch between open and done, and open any task to change its title, due date, repeat rule or colour, or jump back to the meeting it came from.
We also refreshed the colours across the app, so it's easier to tell at a glance what's overdue, what's due today and what's coming up.

What we took out
Simpler means removing things too. The separate calendar page is gone. Tasks with a due date now show on Today and in Tasks, and you still get deadline reminders. The side panel of tasks next to your notes is gone as well, because Tasks now does that job properly.
We've also retired the interactive demo on this website. The best way to see Jottoo is with your own meetings, so the 7-day free trial is now the one place to start.
Try it free
If you haven't tried Jottoo yet, now is a good time. Record one real meeting and see your notes and tasks land on Today. It works without a bot joining the call, including in-person meetings and conference sessions. If you're comparing tools, see the best bot-free AI note takers and Otter.ai alternatives, or check pricing: one plan, $13.99 a month after the trial.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to do anything to get the new layout?
No. Sign in on the web and the new layout is already there. On iPhone, iPad and Android, update the app from the App Store or Google Play. Your notes, folders and tasks are exactly where you left them.
Where did the calendar go?
Tasks with a due date now show on your Today view and in Tasks, and you still get deadline reminders. One-way calendar sync, sending your due dates to Google or Apple Calendar, is on the roadmap.
Does Jottoo still work without a bot joining my call?
Yes. You record or upload the audio yourself. No bot joins your meeting.
How much does it cost?
The trial is free for 7 days with no credit card. Then it's $13.99 a month.
